HID Global was looking for a way to turn their old fashioned pdf/paper ordering system into a digital experience. The most difficult part about this project was the fact that there were different ordering guides for each line of readers and cards, some as long as 100 pages.

During our research phase, we interviewed key stake holders from over 14 different interest groups in order to gain key insights into the pain points of the current process. In addition, customers from over 10 different companies all over the world were part of the first phase of research.

User Flows

Based on the discovery phase, we mapped out user flows of the process for each product. Some of the products were quite complex, which required us to really understand each facet of the configuring process. Having these flows set the foundation for the designs that were to come.

We decided to create a wizard like approach to walking users through the configuring process, as a main pain point was that there were so many options and configurations that users were confused. Tool tips were deisgned into the process along the way to solve another pain point of unfamiliar terminology to describe options.
